
Milford Public Library announced programs for August with something for everyone available. Learn a new skill, bring the children in for a fun summer craft or enjoy live music this month.
“We will hold a blood drive on August 5 at 10 AM,” Lea Rosell, Executive Director of the library said. “Every two seconds, a patient needs blood. Be a hero and support the health of the community.”

“Kathie Enright will lead teens through the basics of hand-building sculpture on August 5 at 12 Noon,” Rosell said. “Students will create art for themselves or to give as a gift. This is in partnership with the Mispillion Art Gallery. Then, on August 6, teens will learn how to make Air-Dry Tic-Tac-To Boards at 2 PM. This will be the return of the weekly Teen Art Club.”
Music in the Park continues on Wednesday, August 6 with the Bryan Scar Band. Bring chairs and a picnic dinner or grab something to eat at one of the downtown restaurants to enjoy a free concert in the park.
The Milford Museum will present “Storm Warriors” on August 9 at 1 PM, a presentation about the United States Life Saving Service, a predecessor to the United States Coast Guard.
Then, on Tuesday, August 12, the Cookbook Book Club meets at 4:30 PM where attendees can try new dishes and recipes. This month, the selection is “Milk Street: Cook What You Have.” Registration is required by stopping by the circulation desk and choosing a recipe from this month’s featured recipes or calling 302-422-8996. That same day, Courageous Hearts will present “We Grow Together” at 2 PM where children can learn compassionate practices, gratitude and emotional expression. Registration is required.
“Orpheus Collar, a best-selling graphic novelist will take a look back at the imagery of his books on August 13 at 6 PM,” Rosell said. “He will explore how mythology and archeology helped him create his vivid graphic stories.”
Adult programs continue later in August, according to Rosell.
“On August 21, we will have Happy Hour with Painted Stave Distilling at 5:30 PM,” Rosell said. “Join the experts from the distillery for a whiskey tasting and learn the history of distilling. You must be 21 to attend and registration is required.”
August 26 will feature Slime Time from 3 to 6:30 PM where children can create their own slime and, on August 30, “A Minecraft Movie” will be presented at 12 Noon.
In collaboration with Mispillion Art League, Vanita Leatherwood will lead participants in a less on creating mixed-media collage. Bring photos or other objects to include in the masterpiece on a 6×6 wood plaque. The event is on August 30 at 11 AM and registration is required.
