Milford Parks and Recreation announced registration is open for spring sports. Spring leagues include soccer, girls’ basketball, field hockey, flag football, pickleball and Tiny Tykes.
Soccer begins March 31 and runs until May 5. Ages five and six meet on Tuesday from 5 to 5:45 PM while grades nine and ten meet from 5 to 6 PM. Ages seven and eight meet on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 PM while 11-14 meets on Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM. The leagues meet at Tony Silicato Memorial Park, 101 Delaware Veterans Boulevard, Milford. The cost is $50 per child.
A girl’s only soccer league runs from April 9 through May 30 with games/practices on Thursday and Saturday. The league meets from 5 to 6:30 PM at the Tony Silicato Memorial Park. There is no cost for this eight-week program.
A boys only intercounty soccer league will run from April 9 through May 30 with practice/games on Thursdays and Saturdays from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. The league meets at Tony Silicato Memorial Park and parents should expect some travel to other locations. The cost is $65 per player.
Girls Basketball for girls 8 to 12 begins March 17 for practice with a scrimmage planned for March 19. It is a full court 5v5 league with practice on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM and a second time slot of 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Games begin on Thursday, March 24 with two time slots – 6:30 to 7:30 PM and 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Practice and games are at the Boys and Girls Club, 101 Delaware Veterans Blvd, Milford. The cost is $75 per player. Leagues are 8-12 and 13-17 age groups.
Field Hockey begins March 29 for ages 7-12. The league meets on Sundays from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. The cost is $70 per player, and they meet at Milford High School, 1019 North Walnut Street, Milford.
Flag Football begins March 26 and runs through May 7 with practice/games on Thursdays. The league meets at Milford Parks and Recreation, 207 Franklin Street, Milford. The league is for ages 7-13. Players are highly encouraged to use mouth guards.
Tiny Tykes is a multi-sport program for toddlers aged three and four. It introduces basic motor skills surrounding select sports. Parents are required to be present and active during the program as they will assist their toddler with preset drills. Tiny Tykes runs from April 8 through May 13 on Wednesdays from 5 to 5:45 PM. The cost is $50 per player. They meet at Milford Parks and Recreation.
The Pickleball League is for those aged 15 and older. When registering, only enter one player during the enrollment process as you will be asked to add teammates later. Do not enroll two times as that will generate two charges. Anyone who cannot commit to the full schedule should refrain from registering. The integrity and functionality of this league is dependent on participants being present for their scheduled matches. Participants will not be able to make up matches they miss and an automatic forfeit will be issued.
The league is a Coed Mixed Doubles format which means one male and one female player must be registered. It is not USAA sanctioned and will not operate under the same constraints. The league begins March 30 and ends May 18 with matches held on Monday from 6 to 8 PM. The cost is $60 per person.
