Bayhealth is inviting neighbors across Kent and Sussex counties to its first-ever Community Wellness Fair on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bayhealth Conference Center at Blue Hen, 665 Bay Rd., Unit A, Dover. The free, family-friendly event will offer community members an opportunity to take charge of their health, connect with local resources, and learn more about wellness—all in one convenient location.
The fair will feature free health screenings, flu shots, baby supply giveaways, and children’s activities, alongside information from local organizations that support housing, food, and other social needs. Bayhealth’s Human Resources team will also be present to discuss job opportunities and career paths within the organization.
“The Bayhealth Community Wellness Fair represents a larger commitment to health equity, whole-person care, and community partnership,” said Amanda Bowie, MSM, Bayhealth Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Community Outreach. “By providing accessible services and creating a welcoming environment, the event will foster trust, deliver meaningful resources, and support long-term wellness for historically underserved populations in Kent and Sussex counties.”
The fair is open to all residents, with special outreach to individuals and families who are uninsured, underinsured, or face barriers to healthcare. Bilingual staff will be on-site to assist Spanish and Haitian-speaking visitors, ensuring that language is not a barrier to accessing care or information.
Wellness fairs like Bayhealth’s play an important role in improving community health by meeting people where they are and offering preventive care in an approachable setting. Public health experts note that such events not only help detect potential health issues early but also strengthen connections between healthcare providers and the community. They serve as gateways to ongoing care, education, and empowerment—particularly for those who might not regularly access traditional healthcare systems.
Attendees can also participate in a fun incentive: completing an event passport will enter them into a raffle to win one of five $250 grocery store gift cards.
There’s no cost or insurance required to attend, and parking is free. Residents are encouraged to pre-register at Bayhealth.org/community-wellness-fair. To learn more about job openings, visit Bayhealth.org/Careers.
