Having “for the most part” been invested in the comic fandom for most of his life, Chris Tenbusch knew that it was time to bring Milford Comicon to life. This Saturday, October 18, from 10 AM to 4 PM, that dream will become a reality when the event takes place in downtown Milford.
“This is a kind of passion project for me and after attending local cons like Dover, I thought that Milford could use an event of this genre,” Tenbusch said. “Red Bandana has been the go-to comic and collectibles shop since 2017, so they are the perfect people to partner with on this event. It only made sense to also partner with Downtown Milford Inc. to make the inaugural Milford Comicon happen in hopes of growing the historical downtown Milford district.”

Tenbusch explained that there will be vendors, food trucks, a costume contest and a card tournament as part of the event. Vendors will include Funko Pops, hobby shops, local artisans and more. Bub’s Grubs, Steel Bowl and more food trucks will be on hand to feed the cosplayers as the wander through town.
“Cosplay is very encouraged, and we do plan to have a cosplay contest,” Tenbusch said. “Register for the contest at Red Bandana.”
Downtown Milford Inc. is partnering with Red Bandana and Dolce, where Tenbusch is the general manager. DJ Dave will be providing music at the event which Tenbusch hopes will become annual and grow every year.
“Just look at how Dover started and how large it has gotten,” Tenbusch said. “In Milford, we know how to do festivals and this one will be no exception.
The festival will close Walnut Street from Northwest/Northeast Front Street to Southwest/Southeast Front Street. Park Avenue will also be closed. The Riverwalk Farmer’s Market will run from 8 AM to Noon as it does every Saturday during the festival.
