Paul Messick, 61, of Harrington, was arrested for his sixth offense of driving under the influence following a Felton traffic stop. The arrest occurred on August 11 at around 6:30 PM.
Troopers saw a silver Chevrolet Traverse traveling on Holly Spring Road near Lords Corner Road with no license plate. The vehicle was pulled over and troopers spoke to the driver, identified as Messick, and recognized signs of impairment. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were given after which Messick was arrested for driving under the influence.
Police ran a computer check which revealed Messick had five prior DUI-related convictions and did not have a valid driver’s license. He was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with sixth offense DUI, driving without valid license and expired tags.
After arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 7, Messick was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,101 secured bond.
