Downtown Milford, Inc. (DMI) is excited to bring back First Friday, a beloved community event series set to energize Walnut Street throughout the summer and early fall. Festivities will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 6, July 4, August 1, September 5, and October 3.
The June kickoff will double as a celebration for the grand reopening of DMI’s office at 15 North Walnut Street.
“We’re excited to welcome everyone back and to kick off the season with a bang,” said Neyda Albarran, DMI Promotions Chair. “Each month, we’ll feature a fun theme designed to draw crowds downtown, connect our community, and showcase our vibrant local businesses.”
To make room for all the fun, Walnut Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during most First Friday events, transforming the downtown into a walkable, open-air hub of activity. Shoppers and visitors can enjoy extended hours at participating businesses, street vendors, and community booths.
The July 4 edition of First Friday will offer a festive twist—Picnic in the Park at Bicentennial Park. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a patriotic evening of live music by The Funsters.
“We’re planning a family-friendly celebration at Bicentennial Park with the Funsters,” Albarran added. “Bring a picnic dinner or grab something from our local eateries and food trucks, bring your chairs or a blanket, and relax to live music in the park.”
Each month brings a unique theme: August’s International Night will celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Milford; Back to School Night in September will offer kid-focused activities and giveaways; and Fiesta Night in October will honor Hispanic Heritage Month with music, dance, and more.
Businesses, organizations, and vendors interested in participating or sponsoring First Friday can find details and applications on the Downtown Milford, Inc. website.
