A 37-year old man from Magnolia died on May 1 when his Harley-Davidson struck an Ford F150 truck on Old Beach Road. The accident was near Barratts Chapel Road.
The investigation revealed the truck entered the intersection in order to travel northbound on Old Beach Road, crossing the path of the motorcycle which hit the passenger side of the truck. The driver of the truck, a 39-year old from Felton, was not injured. The road was closed for over three hours for the investigation conducted by Delaware State Police.
Milford Police Department are also investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on North Church Street. A white Chevrolet Malibu was attempting to turn left into their residence when a black Suzuki GSX1300 motorcycle attempted to pass on the left at a high rate of speed, leading to a collision.
Emergency services arrived and performed life-saving measures on the motorcycle driver, identified as Robert D. Pierce of Greenwood. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 62-year old driver of the Malibu was not injured while a 43-year old passenger was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and released.
North Church Street between North Street Extended and Bright Way was closed for over three hours during the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Patrolman First Class G.
