The Riverwalk Freedom Festival, held Saturday, September 19, drew huge crowds who enjoyed visiting local vendors, stopping to chat with businesses throughout the state who set up tents, food trucks and shopping in local stores. The event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford, has been chaired by Angela Dorey for more than a decade.

The Riverwalk Freedom Festival doesn’t come to life on its own. It takes a village,” the CCGM social media accounts read. “To the Riverwalk Committee, Festival Chairperson Angela Dorey, the MHS Interact Club, First State Military Academy, our Chamber Board of Directors, the BEST Milford Parks & Rec team and our longtime Chamber members, our friends, our families, and every single person who lent a hand THANK YOU!!!! You helped set up, clean up, guide, organize, welcome, support, and do all of the little things that make a BIG difference.”
Although the names of the Duck Dash winners were not released, the winning duck numbers were 674,847, 370. According to CCGM, the winners were notified by phone.
The current festival is a modern version of other festivals that have been held in Milford over the years, including a Fall Festival and “Fall Fling.” After the 9/11 attacks, the festival was renamed the Riverwalk Freedom Festival with a focus to recognize first responders and members of the military.
The festival is held the third Saturday of September each year. Volunteers are always welcome. In order to volunteer, contact CCGM online.
