The Delaware State Police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred early this morning near Harrington.
On August 26, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., troopers responded to the 200 block of Whiteleysburg Road near Harrington, for a report of two unresponsive people in a ditch. When troopers arrived, they found a 62-year-old man with a gunshot wound, and a 36-year-old man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Delaware State Police have identified 62-year-old Richard Jobes, of Harrington, Delaware, as the victim in the murder-suicide that occurred near Harrington. The suspect, 36-year-old Richard Jobes, II, from Indiana, Pennsylvania, committed suicide during the incident.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective A.
